Creating Connections Through Song
The Bridge Choral Collective represents a bold cross-Canada initiative to generate thrilling new music, rooted in justice, in a time of global contemplation. It cements the bonds among some of Canada’s most innovative youth and young adult choirs, and brings them together to explore and create in partnership with guest artists from around the world.
The collective has two outreach initiatives for choirs and conductors:
- Building Bridges allows choirs to participate in workshops with experts and outstanding vocalists from across the globe. In the fall of this year 3 workshops were held featuring Moira Smiley from Vermont, The University of Pretoria Youth Choir from South Africa and Cree-Dene Indigenous Artist Sherryl Sewepagaham. Twenty-nine choirs from across Canada, the USA and even Ireland participated in these workshops
A new winter series is being planned and will be announced soon. To sign your choir up, simply visit the website - Professional Development for teachers/conductors. This fall a series of three workshops specifically geared towards educators and conductors featured Sherryl Sewepagaham, Moira Smiley and Elise Bradley from the Toronto Children’s Choir. A new winter series has been developed and well be announced soon on the website. The fall PD series was very popular and sold out quite quickly.
