About the Festival

The Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival is an exciting and revolutionary approach that highlights performing, listening and learning. This Festival is held every year at the Banff Centre and is considered the ‘Jewel of Music Festivals’ in Canada.

The format of the Festival is unlike most others. More than half of the Festival involves clinics and workshops and each year they offer great guest artists and performing groups.

You do not just come and perform at the festival; you are an integral part of it. The Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival offers performance, clinic and workshop opportunities for Concert Bands, Concert/Chamber Choirs, Jazz Bands and Jazz Choirs.

Festival Philosophy

  • To provide a festival that is student- and director-centered
  • To operate a festival that is musically and educationally oriented without competition or grading
  • To provide a workshop-type environment so that students can learn and improve by participation and listening
  • To provide excellent performance examples which groups can strive to emulate
  • To develop a positive atmosphere in which students and directors can learn by listening, sharing, and working together
