Sir Winston Churchill High School Symphonic Band | Calgary, AB

Ms. Judy Lynn Wishloff | Conductor

The Music Program at Sir Winston Churchill High School consists of a wide array of performing ensembles: the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Blue Jazz Band, Concert Choir and numerous chamber ensembles. Once every three years, the SWCHS Music Program records a CD in a formal studio session at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton. Some of our recorded repertoire includes: Carmina Burana (Orff/Krance), Winter Dances (Carroll), Incantation and Dance (Chance), Corsican Litany (Nelhybel) and Ghost Train (Whitacre). Let us know if you would like to obtain one of our Sir Winston Churchill High School Music Department CDs.

The Symphonic Band consists of 60 musicians from Grades 10, 11, and 12. They rehearse twice per week at 7 AM before the regular school day begins. This year, the SWCHS Symphonic Band will perform two concerts at the University of Calgary Rosza Center as well as at the Alberta International Band Festival and the ABA Festival of Bands in Red Deer. We are honoured to perform a Showcase Concert at the Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival.

PERFORMING: Thursday, April 21, 2016  |  7 PM  |  Greenham Theatre  |  No tickets required.
