Luther College Senior Choir

Dr. Melissa Morgan  |  Director

Founded in 1913, Luther College is a unique two-campus college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.  The residential high school campus on Royal Street in Regina, SK offers its 400 students a liberal arts program from Grades 9 through 12.  It is home to the Luther College Choirs.

There are several choirs at Luther College High School including the Girls Choir, the Handbell Choirs, AVE [Advanced Vocal Ensemble], and the Senior Choir. The Senior Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble made up of boys and girls from Grades 9 through 12. This choir performs numerous times each year in schools, churches, conventions and celebrations. It also performs annually at the Luther College Candlelight service before Christmas, and the Luther College Home Concert at the end of the choir season.

The choirs are renowned for the variety, high quality and wide range of repertoire it presents, which includes choral music from Canadian composers, hymns, jazz arrangements, and more. Over the years the Luther College choirs have developed a reputation for excellence. On its annual tours, the choir has traveled in Canada from Vancouver, BC to St. John’s, Newfoundland.  In the United States it has traveled as far south as California, and as far east as New York City. In March 2018 the choir performed as part of a mass choir at the Lincoln Centre in New York.  The Luther College Senior Choir is honoured to be a Showcase Ensemble at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Music Festival.

Dr. Melissa Morgan is the Pfeifer Memorial Chair of Music at Luther College High School where she is responsible for the Luther College Senior Choir, the auditioned choir AVE, the String Ensemble, the Luther Band, and the IB music program.
