| Director

The Performing Arts Program at O’Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute was founded by Russ Baird in 1988 and has developed a reputation of excellence known across Canada. Students in the program are often multi-talented, honing their skills in many of the arts offered through the program;  instrumental music, vocal music, drama and dance.

The O’Neill Chamber Choir is a 26-voice ensemble under the direction of Erin Collins, who is also an O’Neill alumnus.  It is represented by enthusiastic students who are dedicated to upholding the tradition of choral excellence that has been a part of O’Neill for over 30 years.  Their diverse repertoire includes both sacred and secular music from Renaissance through to Modern works.

Annually, the choir embarks on a music tour. Past ensembles have had the opportunity to travel within Canada, the United States and to various European countries.

They maintain a busy concert schedule in their community, participating in many community outreach projects.  This past fall, the choir partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society to create an intergenerational choir. This spring they are honoured to participate in an educational program with Toronto’s renowned chamber choir, the Elmer Iseler Singers.
