Founded in 1996, Kokopelli celebrates its 21st season in 2017. The ensemble’s members range in age from 15 to 24. The choir aims to share music across the boundaries of culture and place, using song as a tool of communication and community. Kokopelli has been a featured ensemble at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
Kokopelli was the winner of both the 2015 and 2016 National Music Festival and the 2015 Canadian Competition for Amateur Choirs (Mixed Youth Choir category). Although we are thrilled with these results, our goal remains to let the music be our motivation as we strive to provide a positive and excellent learning experience for all members in our choirs.
The current season includes a performance with Rajaton; a recording project with Spanish composer Ramon Galifa; tours to Saskatchewan, Banff, and a summer tour to Italy and Switzerland. Kokopelli is thrilled to be attending the Rocky Mountain Music Festival for the 20th consecutive year.
