ihana Youth Choir and is an exciting and vibrant vocal ensemble for singers ages 14 – 22 who have a passion for choral music. The choir provides an opportunity for the youth in Red Deer and surrounding communities to strive for a high level of musical artistry and integrity and sing in a supportive and encouraging environment. This enthusiastic and very energetic, close-knit group of teenagers and young adults work together to enrich their lives and the lives of everyone they meet through song and community.
ihana is a Finnish word that means wonderful, marvelous, and is a fitting way to describe this choir and their recent experience in Edmonton on Nov 21-22, 2014 where they sang with Vic Comp High School and worked in clinics with Bruce Cable and David Wilson. ihana was a showcase choir in Banff for the CRMF in April 2014 and participated in the Voices West Festival Nov. 8-11, 2013 with five other community vocal ensembles/choirs from Western Canada.
ihana is looking forward to being a showcase choir for the Cantando Sun Peaks Festival April 17-19, 2015.
